Do You Agree with a Philippine Bailout?

Posted by Silver on Jan 26, 2009 in Commentaries and Opinions, News, Politics |

Eto ang tanong ko sa bayan for the moment. Agree ba kayo in a Philippine bailout?

Sa akin? Depende kung saan gagamitin ang bailout as I have low confidence in how the government does its expenditures. Questionable kasi sa akin ang pamamaraan ng government natin pagdating sa gastusan ng pondo – as evidenced by the lack of social services, classrooms for many students, books, salaries for the teacher and even those helpful meds in your local health center.

Now, may mga balitang pumapainlanglang sa ere about a possible bailout of the pre-need industry in the Philippines (Remember Pacific Plans, CAP, Legacy Plans and the likes?) There are some voices in the government na nag-susuggest na ibail-out ang pre-need industry. Heck, as a tax payer of the Philippine Republic, my blood pressure shoot up when I heard the news.

As a tax payer, I dont want my tax money be used in bailing out private industries and companies. If there is something wrong about the pre-need companies and why they ended in that slump they are in now, the government should probe into what they have done in their funds and spendings. Mabuti na lang, hindi ako kumuha ng pre-need plan eklavu na yan. Heck, I can finish my collegiate course by becoming a iskolar ng bayan. Duda kasi ako kung saan dadalhin ng mga pre-need companies na yan ang pera ko – na sa pagkatagal tagal ng paghuhulog e bigla na nalang pala mawawala na parang bula. Poof! and my hard earned cash is gone.

If there is something that we should be bailing out, I believe its the agriculture sector or any sector of our country that deals with the basics of our survival. Pero the hard question about this bailout is: WHERE THE HECK THE GOVERNMENT WILL GET THAT 330 BILLION PESOS BAILOUT FUND????

Siguro the best way to start in making a bailout is to crack down the corrupt officials and individuals who are sapping our public funds dry. Para kasing ginagawang cash cow livelihood ang pondo ng bayan. Kumukupit ang mga kawatan sa bulsa ng may bulsa. Jeez. Kumbaga, find the leeches that cause the leaks in our pockets. Squash them to control the leaks.

So my final answer to the question? NO. NOT YET. And a much bigger, HELL NO! to the so-called wais suggestion of bailing out pre-need. Mabuti na lang, there are some people who agree with me na hindi magandang ibailout ang pre-need industry.

And oh by the way, these so-called wais bailout decision makers even planned to make use of our dear SSS contributions. Not so fast! SSS constributions should be used for SSS related projects and investments. Dont make SSS your cash cow livelihood again!

So what is your take in my question? Feel free to comment at the end of this post.
