Dare to Ask: How did Cory Aquino Made an Impact in Your Life?

Posted by Silver on Aug 6, 2009 in Dare to Ask |

Yesterday, we have witnessed the touching people’s funeral of former president Cory Aquino. The people who followed the cortege braved the rains, gusty winds, slippery streets and even floods. It seemed that no matter what nature throws to them, they braved it and went on to bring Cory to her resting place.

I admit that watching those scenes yesterday brought me the back to the memories that I have of EDSA in 1986. It was profound moment that time.

Now that Cory had been finally laid to rest, let me ask you my dare to ask for this week: How did Cory Aquino made an impact in your life?

I believe that Cory did not only made an impact to our nation but among us, the ordinary Filipino citizens. And that impact can last for our life time. In my personal view, Cory Aquino made a significant impact in my life. If she didnt make a stand back then against the oppressive regime of Ferdinand Marcos, I wouldnt be alive today. I wouldnt be free today. I wouldnt have the will to dare to speak out about our society and ills that affect it. I believe Cory Aquino is the reason why most of us, the younger generations are alive today.

RIP Cory Aquino. Thank you for the legacy of democracy and freedom.
