Imeldific Tribute
LOL.
What kind of legacy does the Imelda Marcos left in this country? Is that of blood? Martial Law? endless shoe collection? The Manila Film Center tragedy?
This is the question circulating in my mind about the recent news of CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) giving tribute to the former first lady. With a questionable entity in the persona of Mrs. Marcos, I am really, really wondering if that kind of entity deserved such tribute.
Kalokohan.
Is this country going crazy or what? It seems that in the years to come, maybe, George W. Bush will also receive a tribute too. Are we glorifying dictators now?
It pains me to see this kind of news while remembering what happened to thousands of other Filipinos who fought against Martial Law. The countless students and laymen who stood against the Marcos regime, who spilled their blood in the streets and sacrificed their lives for trying to achieve a piece of freedom the Marcos regime blatantly took away from us. And then maririnig ko ang balitang ito? Total crappy BS.
~tapon ang kape sa keyburd~
If Imelda did have significant contributions to the proliferation of arts and culture here in our country, nararapat naman sigurong ipakita ng CCP yun. Ano nga ba ang naging contributions ni Imelda? Honest to goodness, wala ata akong maalala. Ang naalala ko lang e yung Manila Film Center tragedy. Ang naalala ko lang ang mala-epokritong pagbibihis ng bansa natin despite the economic hardships that we have been through. Parang kunwari magbihis mayaman ka muna para bumango ka sa ibang bansa without accepting the fact na we are indeed a third world country.
Parang katulad sa ka-epokrituhan na nangyari sa Le Cirque. Wine and dine like a rich president while the rest of the nation barely survive onĀ 1 dollar per day.
Ay ambot. Irita talaga. Dumadami na ata ang sinto sinto dito sa bansa natin. Dapat i-admit na ang mga ito sa mental hospital. Ampf.
