Thoughts on PNoy’s SONA

The State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III created a buzz among the people: some people find the SONA to be a blockbuster-tell-all-the-truth scenario, others find it some sort of reminiscing of PGMA’s administration and decry all the anomalies that happened during that term.
In other words, some people may find that the SONA is kinda’ sweet, others can see PNoy’s bitterness.
In my opinion, you can never address problems if you will not be presenting solutions to them. On PNoy’s part, it is quite hard for him to inherit an country filled with political landmines in its governance and in every discovery of the anomaly, its another thorn on his way.
While PNoy recognized the need to be transparent to all Filipinos regarding the state of our country, he forgotten that he should be also tact in delivering those kinds of statements. Tact, in a way that somehow, would present the statements to be objective, rather than subjective. In this case, he could have presented the problems in a way that they will not be perceived as a mere “talak”.
We all know that there are problems abound in the government and those problems are taking their toll on our society. The problems will be there – always – unless if we’ll take the initiative to solve them, even in our humble ways.
I hope that PNoy will be able to deliver to his promises. For now, I’ll spare him. Until I will hear the next SONA, then, I should be able to make a good comparison then. I cant afford to make a comparison between PGMA’s SONA and PNoy’s version – you cant compare ampalaya (bitter gourd) to melons. Anyhoot, the positive atmosphere is still there and I hope the solutions will be provided to the problems.

I totally agree with you. I do appreciate Pnoy’s reason to tell all those questionable things but I think he focused on that too much that maybe it appeared to me that he “forgot” to really deliver SPECIFIC tentative solutions on other necessary issues especially on the basic and the most important ones- reproductive health, OFW’s, agriculture, freedom of information, poverty and others. But maybe after hearing so many constructive criticisms, he would be able to do something about it.
